Evergreen, Colorado Family Photos

There is something about the light in Evergreen, Colorado, that just feels like home. This fall, I headed up the hill for a mountain family session with one of my favorite crews. As a Denver-Aurora photographer, I’m a bit of a 'Front Range Brat,' but I will never tire of the short drive into the foothills for a backdrop this stunning.

I’ve had the privilege of working with this lovely family every year, and watching these three sisters grow is truly the highlight of my job. They are beautiful, rambunctious, and full of the kind of life that makes my 'Chaos Expert' heart skip a beat.

If you’re a parent, you know that the idea of a mountain photo session can feel a little daunting. Will the kids stay on the trail? Will they sit still?

With nearly 20 years of experience (and 5 kids of my own!), I’ve learned that the 'sitting still' part is actually the least important. During this Evergreen portrait session, we let the girls be exactly who they are. One of the reasons I love working with this family is the deep trust they have in the process.

I have extensive experience working with families with unique needs, so I know that every child has a different 'rhythm.' My goal is never to force a pose; it’s to find the quiet, beautiful moments of connection that happen when everyone feels safe, seen, and celebrated.

For families looking for professional photography in Evergreen, CO, I always recommend locations that offer space to move. We found a patch of golden, backlit grass that felt like a dream. It allowed the girls to huddle up together—the result being those authentic, joyful smiles that you just can't get in a traditional studio.

To this wonderful family: thank you for letting me be a part of your story for another year. To the moms out there currently stressing about booking your own Colorado family photos: take a deep breath. I’ve got the styling, the location, and the 'kid-wrangling' covered.
